New Years-Baby Blessings

Some of my siblings talked about gathering at my parents house for New Years.  We thought we could bless Miles and my sister could bless her twin girls while we were together.  I was a little nervous to travel in the winter with a newborn but we decided to go.  It was freezing, but a beautiful drive on the way there.  The rivers were steaming and the snow sparkled.  The kids did really well.  We stopped to see our friends, Matt and Paige in Ashton.  We had a great visit.  While we were there Weston needed his diaper changed, Miles needed fed, and Miles peed and pooped through 2 outfits.  It was an eventful visit :).  

When we pulled up to my parents house I felt like a child going to the candy store,  I couldn't wait to see everyone.  

It was such a sweet New Years.  I felt like everyone was excited to be together and really tried to help each other and enjoy the moments together.  We played games, my two favorite were loaded questions and scum.  The kids went swimming at a hotel and built a marble works tower up the stairs.  We hardly saw Zoey and Weston because they were downstairs playing with their cousins most of the time.  They reserved a hotel room one night and most of the kids slept there except for the younger ones.  Weston kept asking, "where'd my friends go?" We blessed Miles, Penelope, and Violet on New Years Day.  We all got in our church clothes and had a special meeting.  In Miles' blessing it said he would be a peacemaker and that he would have the ability to understand the feelings and thoughts of those around him so he could be an influence for good.  During the blessing I felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for this sweet boy and the gift he is to our family.  

That night Dane made his traditional Pork and Nadles dinner for the family.  It was delicious.  The next day we visited Grandma Patsy at the care center.  She smiled and laughed a lot- it was so fun to hear her laugh again.  

We stopped and visited the newlyweds, Kendra and Luke. They seemed so happy and we had a fun visit. We headed home and the roads were good and the kids did extremely well!
